  Introduction to Agent-Based Simulation

  This tutorial presentation will introduce the foundation of agent-based modelling and its simulation applications. In particular, we will present the notion of agent as a modelling unit, as well as the notions of agent’s behaviour, interaction, and environment. We will also compare agent-based simulation to traditional simulation methodologies such as discrete-event simulation and system dynamics. Finally, we will outline a general methodological framework to develop and use agent-based simulation in various contexts, as well as a few illustrative examples.
