  The Physical Internet: A Paradigm Shift Towards Interconnected Logistics

  The tutorial justifies and describes the recently introduced Physical Internet: an open global logistics system founded on physical, digital and operational interconnectivity enabled by world standard encapsulation, protocols and smart interfaces for increased efficiency and sustainability. It then highlights how it enables a paradigm shifting Logistics Web. It pursues with describing how the Physical Internet fundamentally alters the options available for transportation, logistics and supply chain design, management and optimization. It depicts results from several recent research projects to make vivid the potential transformational impact of the Physical Internet.
