    Constraint Programming and Scheduling

    • Claude-Guy Quimper, prés., Université Laval

This tutorial covers the basics of constraint programming, a paradigm for solving combinatorial problems. We will see how to model a constraint optimization problem. We will show how a solver proceeds to find a solution and how the performance of a solver is affected by the model. We will suggest strategies to cope with large problems. Particular attention will be given to scheduling problems for which constraint programming was proved very effective in the past years.
