  The Road Freight Transport Industry : Current state, Challenges and Opportunities

  The road freight transportation industry plays a major role in all modern economies. This talk will begin by examining its impact in Canada and Quebec, where the sector faces growing demand while continuing to generate a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions—despite ongoing improvements in energy efficiency. We will then address the complex challenges involved in decarbonizing the industry, considering both operational and systemic constraints. Finally, we will reflect on the contributions of scientific research in the field of road transportation, highlighting key successes, areas of limited impact, and promising avenues for future work.
